EXPRESSION OF INTEREST LETTER
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
• Capability of understanding the written word
(English)
• Competence in basic numeracy skills
• Capability to communicate clearly with patients and fellow workers
• Comply with the State Health Departments policies for Health
Care Workers
ENTRANCE PROVISION
Provision for enrolment may be accepted where length, breadth and depth
of experience are indicative of success in the programme.
Applicants without these formal requirements can establish an interview
with the College for advice on further learning pathways to enter the
programme.
SELECTION CRITERIA
If there are more applicants for a Full-time course than there
are places, Selection Criteria will be used. The selection Criteria
is based on previous education and training, and relevant paid or unpaid
work experience.
GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT / COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to equip Students with a sound grounding to
introduce them to the essential knowledge, skills and attributes required
to work effectively in the Health Care setting in clerical/administrative
field. Graduates are in a position to proceed to the Certificate III
Medical Reception (Business Administration) and seek relevant employment
in the Medical sectors which requires limited degree of responsibility,
discretion and judgement.

CLIENTS
The key clients for this qualification are potential new entrants to
the industry who require a broad orientation to the industry. This group
may include:
School leavers, Unemployed workers, Those entering the workforce for
the first time,
Those wishing to enter a different industry sector.

The 4 accredited modules of competency in the course have been organised
into an off the job training programme along with additional proficiency
modules which comprise of (General Work Skills) and (Applied Industry
Skills).
The programme is organised to provide Students with an introduction
and background information on OHS, Infection control, Computer Technology,
Medical Software, General Office techniques, Communication skills.

DELIVERY MODES
This programme is delivered entirely off - the -job at our
Organizations Training Colleges in Bunbury, Mandurah and Geraldton.
It combines face- to- face trainer lead theory classes one day a week
with external assisted learning.
For each module, Students are provided with training manuals, which
include all materials used in the training sessions, assessment materials
and reference material.
EVIDENCE GATHERING (Assessing) TECHNIQUES
Will include a variety of:
A Demonstration, B Questioning, C Interview, D Scenario, (problem solving)
E Role play, F Case study (fault finding), G Written test H Incident
report, I Assignment
SCHEDULE
The Full-time training programme is conducted over a five-week
period.
Student entering the part-time training programme will have customised
training programmes developed to meet flexible learning delivery incorporating
blended learning. Including online learning and assessment Programme
follows the same order of modules and assessment processes.

RESOURCES AND FACILITIES
Kingston Training and Employment Pty Ltd has established three training
centres close to the centre of Bunbury, Mandurah and Geraldton for easy
access. These centres contain a comfortable, modern training environment
to enhance learning.
Air-conditioned with comfortable chairs and desks, Refreshment area
with tea & coffee supplied, Urn, fridge, microwave, oven.
Each centre also contains:
Data projector, computers, Overhead projector, T.V. video, whiteboards,
Library.
Training Package Business Services Volume 1 and 4.
Training resource material, learning modules, CDs, Power point presentations,
Legislation information, Videos, Library resource, Assessment tools,
Recording procedures & policies. Kingston Training and Employment
Procedure and Policy manual following the AQTF, Student Handbook.
STUDENT FACILITIES AND SUPPORT
Facilities are available for you to bring your lunch
and keep in fridge. Tea and Coffee facilities are available at all times.
Microwave is available to heat lunches. Cafés, restaurants and
shops are walking distance to attain morning tea and lunches.
Parking is available at all training centres.
Training Centres and verandah areas are no smoking zones.
Valuables should be kept with you at all times.
Mobile phone rings are advised to be turned off during classes.
STATIONARY REQUIREMENTS
Students will require red and blue pens, ruler, high lighter, pencil,
rubber and note paper and one foolscap file to hold lecture notes.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
Students already involved in the Medical Industry or have skills and
knowledge from employment, work-experience, community / volunteer work
or have appropriate qualifications, courses, certificates can apply
for Recognition of Prior Learning or Recognition of Current Competencies.
Provides an opportunity for you to be recognized for skills and knowledge
you already have attained and be rewarded with the modules as competent.
Evidence will be required to substantiate your RPL.

PAYMENT
METHODS
Full amount must be paid by or on the first day of training
unless other arrangements have been made. Cash, cheques and money orders
are the only forms of payment .Cheques & Money Orders to be made
out to Kingston Training and Employment Pty Ltd.

Please return enrolment form with your payment of $478.95
to Kingston Training & Employment P.O. Box 6014, South Bunbury 6230
W.A. You will then receive confirmation of enrolment and receipt of
payment in the mail.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
You may be eligible for financial assistance while attending
Kingston Training and Employment courses. Eligibility depends on several
factors: family income, age, employment situation, course of study &
length of course.

REFUNDS POLICY
A refund of tuition fee to students will only be provided
who lodge a formal withdrawal from prior to or within one week of commencement
of the programme. An administration fee of $100.00 will be deducted
with no refund on enrolment fee.
Full refund of tuition fee will be provided should the course be cancelled
or maximum number of places have been reached.

ASSESSMENT VALIDATION APPROACH
The process used to validate assessment in this programme
are:
• Program manager meets with representatives from the medical
profession on an annual basis to check the performance standards required
in the programme are consistent with industry practice.
• Programme manager convenes annual meeting of assessment panel
comprising subject specialists in medical software, OHS, Infection control
standards, medical accounting and general medical representative to
review evidence-gathering tools.
• External facilitator conducts two moderation meetings attended
by all assessors. The first meeting held prior to commencement, confirms
the evidence gathering techniques and the required standards of performance.
The second meeting, held one week after the programme, focuses on reviewing
assessment tools and decisions.
PATHWAYS
All candidates who undertake the Introduction to Medical
Reception are provided with advice of further training options including
the Certificate III in Business (Office Administration) Medical Reception
and advice on employment.
