Perth is one of the closest Australian cities to Asia, giving it a very
cosmopolitan and almost tropical feel. Perth is the state capital of Western
Australia and with all the commercial facilities and benefits of a well
developed economy.
Located close to the Indian Ocean and golden beaches, with the City nestled
alongside the Swan and Canning Rivers, provides Perth with tranquility and
stunning views. The delightful Fremantle Port, famous for the America Cup
win, is also close to Perth and well worth many a visit by car, boat or
rail.
Students love Perth for all it has to offer them. Great beaches, fishing,
wildlife sanctuaries, sports facilities on land and sea along with the modern
city restaurants, pubs, art galleries, museums and libraries. International
students find it easy to obtain part-time jobs and plenty of fun things
to do with their money.
Perth is one of
the safest and friendliest cities in the world, well spread out, and with
a population of 1.4 million, there is absolutely no feeling of overcrowding.
To give you some idea of size, the whole of Germany, Japan and the UK could
easily fit into the area of Western Australia. Public transport is very
convenient and easy to use around the city and Perth suburbs. The college
will provide you with a student identification card which will provide you
with concession rates for different services including public transport.
You will not have to feel that you have left your shopping behind! The city
abounds in shops and many of the suburbs have modern and spacious shopping
centres. Markets are common and don’t be surprised to find all your
local food specialities right here in Perth!
Perth is
also a student city. There are five universities, giving the city a real
student identity. All campuses are open to the public as places of relaxation
and it is easy to access the libraries as readers.
The climate is idyllic. In summer, December to March, the average temperate
is 30 degrees Celsius, but with a lack of humidity, you do not feel too
hot. Spring and Autumn have perfect temperatures with averages around 23
degrees Celsius. Even in Winter from June to August you will not feel too
cold with average temperatures of 18 degrees Celsius.
The regional areas are also spectacular with sensational beaches, fishing,
delightful scenery and some of the best wineries and restaurants in the
world.
You will just love the magic Western Australia has to offer.
Our Perth Colleges
are nestled in on the banks of the Swan River in the cosmopolitan area of
South Perth and Belmont right opposite the city.
The Regional Colleges are all located in delightful large townships offering
friendly service, great amenities and recreational activities.

Our study day is normally within 9am to 3pm. One day per week is set aside
for project work, group discussions and tutorials with your lecturers.
You will experience a mixture of lectures, practical sessions and independent
study. You will be expected to conduct your own research on occasions
and may participate in group assignments. As far as is practical your
assessment will be based on real life situations in which you will demonstrate
your skills. Such assessments may be based on role plays, case studies
and practical exercises. We encourage you to access work experience and
will make all arrangements for you.
All students are reminded that attendance is important and international
students must attend 80% off class sessions to satisfy the conditions
of their visas.
Accommodation
Hostels: Available on first arrival for all
students. A room with shared facilities will cost about A$25 per night.
Homestay: Living with an Australian family.
This is a good way for international students to be introduced into the
Australian way of life and have all meals cooked for them as well. Costs
approximately $180 per week inclusive of meals.
Shared Homes: Popular among students who
have been in Perth a little longer and probably the cheapest way to be
accommodated. Please note that DNA Kingston Training will help you to
find accommodation on your arrival into Perth and will support your accommodation
needs throughout your course.
Health and Medical Insurance
As a condition of obtaining a student visa, international students are
required to obtain the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). We can assist
you to obtain the necessary cover, or you are free to make your own arrangements.
Please note that OSHC does not cover dentist and optometrist services.

Working in Perth
International students are permitted to work for up to 20 hours per week
when on a student visa. Most Australian and International students find
jobs whilst they are with us and our hours of study support this concept
of work and study. However, all students are reminded that their main
purpose whilst at DNA is study and they are urged not to become too dependant
on the income derived from their jobs. International students will need
to demonstrate to the immigration authorities their financial independence,
before student visas will be granted.
Guest Lecturs
Specialists in their field provide guest lectures through the year, eg
Forensic Dentistry, Oral Pathology, Orthodontics, Dental Implants to name
a few.
Cost of Living
Perth is not an expensive city in which to live by Australian standards.
Your expenses may be divided into accommodation, food and other expenses.
A rough guide for one month’s expenditure might be:
Accommodation: $800
Food and Drink: $400
Transportation: $100
Entertainment: $200
Total: $1,500 per month. Some students are able to manage
on less.
Academic Year
Rolling intakes all courses except Dental Technology
commencing February / March and July each year.
Notes to keep in mind
1. For international entry qualifications please enquire direct to the
college or download How to Apply
2. International students must provide evidence of their competency
in English, where their language of instruction
has been other than English. Some examples of acceptable qualifications

wanting to teach overseas students. Dental Nursing Australia is governed

listed on PRISMS, as is each student studying in Australia on a Student
Visa. This system works with and through the Department of Immigration
and Citizenship (DIAC).
Through PRISMS DNA will notify DIAC of each students enrolment in
a course. This generally occurs before the student applies for a Student
Visa to study in Australia. The enrolment information generates an
electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) as evidence of enrolment
in a registered, full-time course. This CoE is a key requirement for
the DIAC to issue a student visa. PRISMS ensures Dental Nursing Australia
keeps a safe watch of our students in our care.
